Stocky by Shopify
2018 — August 31, 2026

"Once a capable POS companion, neglected into obsolescence, then quietly buried by the platform that acquired it."

What happened

The Stocky shutdown timeline

Here's the full breakdown of what's already gone and what's coming.

2018
Shopify acquires Stocky
Originally a third-party Australian app, bundled into Shopify POS Pro.
July 7, 2025
Core features removed
Inventory transfers and min/max forecasting disabled — the two most useful features.
February 2, 2026
Delisted from App Store
No new installs possible. Only merchants who installed before this date retain limited access.
August 31, 2026
Complete shutdown ☠
App stops working entirely. Unexported data is permanently lost. Supplier data cannot be recovered.

Why is Shopify doing this?

Shopify is consolidating inventory tracking into its Admin panel — a strategic move to simplify its app ecosystem and give merchants a unified experience without needing a separate app.

Shopify Admin is not a like-for-like replacement. There's no automated reorder calculation, no PO workflows tied to demand forecasting, and no advanced analytics. If you relied on Stocky for these, you need a third-party solution.

⚠ Critical Data Warning

Supplier information cannot be exported from Stocky. If you have supplier contacts, lead times, and MOQs stored in Stocky, you must manually document them before August 31, 2026 or they are gone forever.

Common questions

Frequently asked

Everything merchants are asking about the Stocky shutdown and migration.

When exactly is Stocky shutting down?+
Stocky will stop working entirely on August 31, 2026. It was delisted from the Shopify App Store on February 2, 2026 — no new installs are possible. Core features including inventory transfers and min/max forecasting were removed even earlier, in July 2025.
Will I lose my Stocky data?+
Yes, if you don't export it first. Historical purchase orders and stocktake records can be exported via Stocky's built-in CSV reports. However, supplier information cannot be exported at all — you must manually document every supplier's contact details, lead times, and MOQs before the shutdown date.
Does Shopify Admin replace Stocky?+
Only partially. Shopify Admin now covers basic inventory tracking, stock transfers, simple purchase orders, and POS sync. It does not replace Stocky's demand forecasting, automated reorder calculations, or advanced analytics. For those features, you need a third-party app.
What's the best Stocky alternative?+
For most growing Shopify brands (50–500 SKUs, $50K–$400K/mo), Fabrikatör is the top-rated replacement with a 4.9/5 App Store score and unique native backorder support. For manufacturers or brands needing PO financing, Prediko is the best fit. For multi-channel enterprise brands on Shopify + Amazon, Inventory Planner by Sage offers the deepest analytics.
How long does migration take?+
Most merchants complete a full migration in 2–4 weeks when running both systems in parallel. The most time-consuming step is manually documenting suppliers. Budget at least 60 days before the August 2026 deadline to avoid last-minute pressure.
Can I still use Stocky if already installed?+
Yes, but with major limitations. If you installed Stocky before February 2, 2026, you can access a reduced version until August 31, 2026. However, inventory transfers and forecasting were already removed in July 2025, leaving very limited functionality.
Is there a free Stocky replacement?+
Shopify Admin's built-in tools are free and cover basic stock tracking. For forecasting and PO automation, Google Sheets is free but fully manual. All dedicated inventory apps start at $99–$119/month but offer 14-day free trials — enough time to validate fit before committing.
Do these apps work with Shopify POS?+
Yes. Fabrikatör, Prediko, and Inventory Planner all integrate with Shopify, including Shopify Plus. Prediko explicitly supports Shopify POS and B2B. All three sync inventory in real-time so in-store and online stock levels stay accurate.

Action plan

Your migration checklist

Don't wait until August. Here's exactly what you need to do — in the right order.

01
Export your Stocky data now

Download all historical purchase orders, stocktake records, and inventory logs from Stocky's built-in export tools. Once it shuts down, this data is permanently gone.

Do this today
02
Manually document all suppliers

Supplier data cannot be exported from Stocky at all. Record every supplier's contact details, lead times, MOQs, and payment terms manually before the deadline.

Cannot be automated
03
Choose your alternative

Use the finder above or the comparison table to select a replacement. Key questions: Do they support forecasting? PO management? Backorders? Your specific sales channels?

04
Run both in parallel (2–4 weeks)

Install your new tool while Stocky still has data. This lets you calibrate the new system's forecasts, catch discrepancies, and train your team without operational risk.

05
Migrate historical PO data

Import your exported Stocky purchase order history into your new platform. Fabrikatör and Prediko both have onboarding teams who actively assist with this step.

06
Full cutover before August 2026

Give yourself at least 60 days of overlap. By June 2026, your new tool should be your primary system and Stocky only a reference.

Deadline: Aug 31, 2026
